My Personal Experience

Growing up, the sounds of Hispanic music filled my home, as my mother and grandmother would often play lively tunes while cooking. One day, among the rhythmic beats and melodies, I was captivated by Selena's hit song "Como La Flor." Seated at the kitchen table, I couldn't resist the urge to explore more of her music. Fueling my newfound interest, I would navigate the house computer, eagerly searching for Selena's name and immersing myself in the melodies that quickly became a soundtrack to my adolescence. Inspired by her not just musically but also aesthetically, my mother introduced me to the MAC Cosmetics makeup line inspired by Selena. The iconic red lipstick, adorned with a delicate rose imprint, became a staple, and my mother graciously taught me how to apply it. My fascination with Selena extended beyond music and makeup. I began collecting merchandise that celebrated her legacy. One prized possession is a t-shirt adorned with a beautiful image of Selena passionately singing into a microphone, accompanied by the title "THE QUEEN OF CUMBIA." The front of the shirt represents some of her greatest hits, including "no me queda más" and "si una vez". Turning to the back of the shirt reveals a tribute to the cities she graced with her presence during her tours. Each city listed is a testament to the widespread impact of her music and the love she received from fans across the nation. In every piece of merchandise I own, I carry a piece of Selena's vibrant spirit and the indelible mark she left on the world of music and culture.
