The Corner Bagel
Open from 7am-2pm, Bloomsburg resident's favorite bagel shop (Figure 1). In 1992, Bloomin Bagel opened up their shop to customers. Located on Main St in Bloomsburg, PA. When walking in, the smell of cooking sandwiches and the line of customers is almost going out the door. This place is small but their freshly made bagel are worth the wait. Having many options on the menu such as breakfast, cold, and hot sandwiches, salads, coffee, and plenty of choices on the cream cheese side of the menu. Their bagel choices consist of blueberry, chocolate chip, egg, cinnamon raisin, everything, and several more (Figure 2). The busiest hours are seven in the morning, once they open, and twelve to one in the afternoon. "Your'e lucky if there are any bagels left" commented the tall cook.
The staff accommodates their customers by giving an option of bringing in a bagel and the cooks are willing to cook on the bagel. They also change gloves and switch knives as necessary if the customer has any dietary restrictions or an allergy.
Wearing a black t-shirt with small lettering saying Bloomin' Bagel, hair up in a high bun, and glasses on her face, Rachel, the manger of the bagel shop was very considerate when asked to be interviewed. Coming in, she had a great attitude towards the customers and taking the orders with a smile. "Always greet when customers are approaching and end on a good note."
Customers say the bagels are made soft with a nice chewy outside. This shop's most purchased bagels consist of plain and everything apart from their most purchased sandwich, a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. When ordering, one of the staff members will write down your order then your name. Selected amount of seating, four sets of two chairs against the wall and three sets of four chair tables towards the middle of the shop. On the left side of the shop, a line of many different beverage flavors of your choosing.
"How was the service?" I asked
"The service was great! I enjoyed my cinnamon raisin bagel sandwich with a refreshing orange mango drink" said the student seated against the window.
The service is polite, the cooks are fast paced, and there are different options of payment. The price was reasonable and the bagel was as described, soft and a nice crunch in the middle of the bagel sandwich.
The place has beautiful lighting due to big windows and because of those big windows, you're able to see people walking and cars driving by. It's a great small work study environment for students as well as the spot for busy workers who desire a nice hot coffee and a freshly made breakfast meal.
